public abstract class ServletOutputStream extends OutputStream
Provides an output stream for sending binary data to the client. AServletOutputStreamobject is normally retrieved via theServletResponse.getOutputStream()method.This is an abstract class that the servlet container implements. Subclasses of this class must implement the
java.io.OutputStream.write(int)method.- Author:

public void print(String s) throws IOException
Writes aStringto the client, without a carriage return-line feed (CRLF) character at the end.- Parameters:
s- theStringto send to the client- Throws:
IOException- if an input or output exception occurred
-
print
public void print(boolean b) throws IOExceptionWrites abooleanvalue to the client, with no carriage return-line feed (CRLF) character at the end.- Parameters:
b- thebooleanvalue to send to the client- Throws:
IOException- if an input or output exception occurred

isReady
public abstract boolean isReady()
Returns true if data can be written without blocking else returns false.If this method returns false and a
WriteListenerhas been set withsetWriteListener(WriteListener), then container will subsequently invokeWriteListener.onWritePossible()once a write operation becomes possible without blocking. Other than the initial call,WriteListener.onWritePossible()will only be called if and only if this method is called and returns false.- Returns:
trueif data can be written without blocking, otherwise returnsfalse.- Since:
- Servlet 3.1

setWriteListener
public abstract void setWriteListener(WriteListener writeListener)
Instructs theServletOutputStreamto invoke the providedWriteListenerwhen it is possible to write- Parameters:
writeListener- theWriteListenerthat should be notified when it's possible to write- Throws:
IllegalStateException- if one of the following conditions is true- the associated request is neither upgraded nor the async started
- setWriteListener is called more than once within the scope of the same request.
NullPointerException- if writeListener is null- Since:
- Servlet 3.1
